Rafael Rozendaal - bron

The internet artist Rafaël Rozendaal made his first website about the time he turned 19. Since then he has realized an enormous number of projects, shown internationally, and sold his domain names. One of Rozendaal's characteristic approaches is to produce a work that looks like popcorn, sounds like popcorn, but is still nothing more than virtual popcorn. He loves things that you can not touch. Rozendaal translates physical objects, sounds and phenomena into the digital realm and tries to create a space that provokes a certain doubt. The artist intensifies the perception of things, somewhere between beauty and curiosity. For him, the computer is not a tool, but a space, a world, a landscape. The screen has more dimensions than real life does; according to Rozendaal, you can see more in a browser window than through a real window. He was once asked what a perfect Rozendaal would be – to which he answered that he wanted to reach the point where he had made so many works that someone could see something and think: another work by Rafaël Rozendaal; that would be the RR moment.
