Voice students who have finished their bachelor's degree programme, have the possibility to study opera at the Dutch National Opera Academy, a joint effort undertaken by the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague. The high standards which contemporary opera places on the performers require singers possessing both musicality and curiosity. The Dutch National Opera Academy aspires to the interpretation of opera in which musical and stage components are equally important. The vast repertoire, which extends from 1600 to the present day, offers vocalists a range of roles demanding equal vocal and theatrical calibre. The objective of the programme is to help students learn how to employ these qualities effectively in the world of contemporary opera. The Dutch National Opera Academy aims to prepare students for every facet of musical drama. Consequently, the programme closely tracks trends and developments in the field.
