The Neurotitan is both gallery and art shop of the Schwarzenberg e.V. society and the pivot of the cultural activities of the house. The rooms on the second floor of the rear building shows an unusual arrangement, representing varied Berlin art and culture and not blindly complying with the dictatorship of the mainstream. The Neurotitan supports mainly artists and musicians who are moving between the disciplines of experimentation, subculture and establishment, offering them an opportunity to present their work to the public.
The gallery is constructed as a part of the Schwarzenberg e.V. artist program for young or unknown artists to experiment. It is a reference point of a multinational network of artists moving between avant garde and subculture, always remaining on the fringes or completely outside of the official culture.
Goal and purpose is to blur and overstep these boundaries as long as it is acceptable from an artistic point of view. Conceptual participation of the showing artists is mandatory.
The first exhibit took place in 1996. Up to the present, the 300 square meter gallery has hosted more than 80 exhibits, not counting sporadic small concerts, readings, performances, screenings and co-operation with several festivals.
