Valentijn Byvanck Portrait -

Valentijn Byvanck is director of Marres, Centre for Contemporary Culture in Maastricht, the Netherlands. At Marres he initiated and curated numerous exhibitions, such as The Unwritten (2014), the Winter Anti-Depression Show (2014) and recently Levi van Veluw: The Relativity of Matter (2015) and Ferran Adrià: Notes on Creativity (2016).

He studied cultural history in Utrecht and New York, and was a fellow at the Smithsonian Institution and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Valentijn is regularly invited to speak, write or moderate debates on topics pertaining to culture, art and society. He also presented the television programme 4ART about contemporary art for national television.
