The Pop-Up City Live

A night for urban innovators

21 May 2013

In spring of 2008 a few makers started a little blog with great ideas that make a change in cities: The Pop-Up City. Now, five years later, they want to celebrate their Birthday. For that special occasion they're hosting The Pop-Up City Live: an experimental event for urban innovators at De Brakke Grond in Amsterdam.

About the Pop-Up City

The Pop-Up City is a blog that explores the latest designs, trends and ideas that shape the city of the future. With a strongly focus on new concepts, strategies and methods for a dynamic and flexible interpretation of contemporary urban life. The Pop-Up City is curated by the creative directors of Amsterdam-based space marketing agency Golfstromen, along with an international team of reporters.

Program

Expect an evening with crispy themes, inspiring guests and the latest ideas and trends in different formats — from little discussions to video screenings, spoken word and musical performances. There will be live cooking with wild urban veggies, an interview about community currencies, a psychogeographic tour of Venice, funky tunes from Turnhout, a discussion with Amsterdam’s community bloggers, and much, much more. The night will be presented by the editors of The Pop-Up City. Check out the website for the entire program.

This event is organised as part of the exhibition citybooks in cooperation with Flemish Arts Centre De Brakke Grond and Flemish-Dutch House deBuren
