Learn to grow Mushrooms

It is said that the mushroom, and especially Mycelium has the potential to replace all sorts of materials like plastics and batteries. We are interested in the cultural, artistic and culinary applications of this 'new' bio-material and invite you to start exploring it for yourself. During this introduction course you will learn how to cultivate the Oyster Mushroom at home. You will go home with your own bag of substrate.

// The workshop will take place in Mediamatic's Bio Clean Lab and will be given by Wouter Hassing from Mycophillia. Tickets : €28,- for artists and students / €40,- regular
Please bring your student card or other proof to show the discount applies to you.//

Vergroot

Grow your own mushrooms - We will teach you how to start cultivating your own mushrooms. Fungi are the basis of many new material developments and novel food designs. But you can also just eat them.

Visit the Aquaponics Farm

Aquaponics systems combine the cultivation of fish (aquaculture) and plants (hydroponics - growing plants without soil) in one system. The fish excrement feeds the plants, and the plants clean the water for the fish. In this way, a minimum amount of waste is produced.
During the Aquaponics Tour we will guide you through our sustainable greenhouse and introduce you to this form of urban agriculture.

The tours are for free and will be held on Sunday from 13:00 - 16:00. Tours start at 13:00 / 14:00 / 15:00 / 16:00

Taste locally produced fish and herbs

Visit Mediamatic ETEN for a delicious Autumn dish (with herbs from our Aquaponics garden en mushrooms from Wouter Hassing) an experimental Myco Beer, or refreshing cup of Aquaponics Tea.
