Expanding Documentary II

17 Nov 2011

De Brakke Grond & IDFA (ParaDocs and DocLab) present EXPANDING DOCUMENTARY: installations, screenings & live events that explore alternative ways of presenting documentary content and experiment with new, sensory narrative forms. Why just watch a documentary when you can also touch, experience and even manipulate it?

C.A.P.E. – A virtual reality performance by CREW
Go on a virtual walk and experience how the documentary of the future will bamboozle your senses. Equipped with video goggles, a headset and portable computer, you are teleported in a trice to the centre of Brussels, landing in a virtual reality: a 360° filmed environment in which you can look around, walk around and even get lost.

17 to 21 Nov. From 15u00 to 22u00, continuous. Telephone bookings: www.brakkegrond.nl. Admission: €7

During IDFA, you will find a number of such groundbreaking projects in de Brakke Grond. In the interactive multimedia installation Barcode, for example, you can scan everyday objects using your iPhone. The object then tells you something about itself in a brief video. Zoot Derks will also be using de Brakke Grond as a workshop in which he will create an installation, live. In What is it Like to be a Bird, Thijs van Vuure ‘birdifies’ human sounds, and in Bogomir Doringer’s installation Hospitality, victims show us how they live with ‘Balkans Syndrome’.
