Digital Pioneers

Pitch Digital Pioneer Academy 2007, Presentation 'Open Doors' book

Since April 2007 eleven projects are working on their Digital Pioneer Businessplan. During this event, the projects will each present their plans to a group of experts and compete for three prizes (one of € 25.000, one of € 15.000 and one of € 10.000). Before announcing the winners, the first copy of 'Open Doors' will be presented. This book describes and analyses the role of civil society in the changing media landscape.

The Academy is a spin off from the Digital Pioneer fund. This fund gives financial and organisational support to small grass root communities that realise innovative projects in the public domain on the Internet.

Many of the more than 130 projects that were supported by Digital Pioneers have a common problem: after a successful start, projects have a hard time to scale up their initiative and to build a sound financial and organisational basis. Therefore we started the Academy. The folloeing projects compete in this years Academy: Stills, Mobile Reporters, Radio Ruisriet, Robin werkt ook, Wizzi, City Chat, Seek and Hide, Coonda, Floss, MIMOA and Mail de politiek.
