Liquorice - Glycyrrhiza glabra Author: Raffi Kojian

Liquorice root has been used for centuries not only for cooking and baking but also for its medicinal properties. In Chinese herbalism, liquorice root is considered an anti inflammatory herb. As a result, it is used to treat dysmenorrhea or menstrual cramps caused by inflammation of the uterus. Many studies have shown that liquorice root limits the production of prostaglandins, the chemical responsible for controlling inflammation. Liquorice root extract, in addition to St. John’s Wort and Calendula, can be helpful in mitigating the symptoms of endometriosis.
