Creating Incense (SOLD OUT)

with Niklaus Mettler

25 Jan 2020

Incense can be used as an insect repellent, to mask a foul smell or as a way to connect with the divine. In fact, the word “incense” is derived from the Latin word for “to burn.” This workshop will help you design your own aroma composition and teach you how to use materials to make incense from scratch.

What you will do

In this workshop, Niklaus Mettler will teach you how to compose an aroma and transform it into an incense of your choice (sticks, cones, or coils). This is an introductory course that will range from information about incense to exploring how you can use materials to make your own.

There will be a range of materials that you can use in the workshop but we invite participants to bring materials that will help create their personal blend. This can be gums, woods, flowers, spices, fruit-zest and anything that contains an interesting smell for you. Note that the materials you bring have to be completely dry in order for you to use them in the blend.
