Although the project has numerous technical setbacks, Delambre decides to test the device upon himself. Successfully transporting himself across his own laboratory. Unbeknownst to him, a common housefly accompanied him on his quantum journey, irreversibly scrambling their DNA codes. As he begins to physically and mentally transform, Delambre desperately races to find a cure, before the remnants of his humanity are lost forever...

Released to critical and commercial acclaim in 1958, The Fly is a groundbreaking piece of sci-fi-horror cinema, paving the way for two sequels and a much more famous remake by David Cronenburg in 1986. The science may be dubious, but as particle teleportation becomes a reality, Neumann's vision remains uniquely chilling.
