Workshop:

Meet Margherita Soldati

Brainstorming, conceptualising and idea sharing with the artist

23 Oct 2020

Maybe you have touched the ceiling in our toilet? Margherita Soldati is obsessed with manipulating textiles to create organic and repetitive shapes. She started to wonder how she could integrate textile and tactile surfaces in our daily surroundings. The investigation keeps raising new personal research points on how to blur the line between the traditional function of surfaces.

We offer half-hour one-on-one sessions for you to share your ideas with Margherita Soldati.

For Whom?

The conversations with Margherita are meant for anyone who has a special interest in how objects and materials are in relation to our bodies and senses, and how these relations create a secondary effect on human behavior. In a society that relies mainly on sight, Margherita Soldati wants to stimulate ‘seeing’ with other senses by creating intimate, personal and interactive relations between her works and the visitors.

During the consult, you sit down with the artist to discuss your work, ideas, and challenges. You can expect an honest talk filled with (unwanted) advice and original ideas.

About the artist

Margherita has a strong interest in tactility and tactile perception at the intersection of art and healthcare, supported by material research with a focus on the creation of patterns and textures. She is intrigued by how objects and materials stand in relation to our bodies and senses, and how these relations create a secondary effect on human behaviour. In her practice tactility is the medium through which she communicates and in her works, she often explore the tactile perception to create a more intimate and interactive relationship between the space, the work and the visitors.

Part of Margherita's work the Skin is the Extension of the Brain is currently displayed at Mediamatic.
