The cooks
Lauren Mills from Foodlem feeds famished Amsterdam on a daily basis. Her biodegradable lunch- and dinner boxes are stuffed with seasonal vegetables, herbs, and spices, and a treat for the truly hungry. During this Over Datum Eetclub she was assisted by the American Baking Company which took care of the sweet ending to the dinner.

The evening
While our guests slowly dropped in, six kilo's of expired Brussels sprouts were sorted by some. The pumpkins were processed in a spicy soup with zeekraal and creme fraiche, served with bread and dippers. While we were enjoying the soup, chef Ken from the American Bakery Company talked us through a short history of Thanksgiving (which actually includes Leiden). You can read more about it here. The next course consisted of stir-fried brussel sprouts and bacon, stuffed peppers and big bowls filled with bulgur and Mediamatic King Oyster mushrooms. The men of ABC made all our sugar sweet and candy dreams come true, by serving sweet bread pudding, vanilla ice cream, lemon bars and caramelized pears.
