Combining storytelling with poetry and education, Marc Lemonnier presents his show 'The Invention of Music' as part of the Japanese Knotweed festival at Mediamatic. This family-oriented show is a musical journey from an introduction to the first natural sounds, materials and percussion, to the crafting of the first prehistoric instruments. Marc will craft his natural instruments in front of everyone's eyes out of Japanese knotweed. 

Marc Lemonnier

Marc Lemonnier is a musician / teacher / craftsman based in Cévennes, France.

As a musician and composer inspired by nature and world music, Marc is specialized in 'green music': the exploration of natural percussion and sounds and the crafting of natural instruments. He runs a website on which he publishes crafting techniques using natural materials and gives family-oriented workshops. In his show The Invention of Music he presents a history of prehistoric music.

The performance will be held on the 21nd of April between 18:30 and 19:30.

The Invention of Music is a show combining storytelling, poetry and music and is presented in French; a textual translation in Dutch and English will be provided.
