Dev Camp ’10 — IkSentric

5 days of concept, design, build and demo. New interactive social sensor installations.

18 Nov 2010

The camp explores various recent technologies like RFID, physical computing and social networking, but also looks into aspects of interaction design and interactive processes.

Dev Camp

The aim of the camp is to realize engaging, interactive installations, spaces, projects, mobile apps and (interactive) games within 5 days, all connected to our social / semantic network anyMeta.

Participants 2010

Every year we invite approximately thirty knowledgeable and skilled people to work with us. The level of the participants is high, and their backgrounds and skills diverse. From programmers to interaction designers, and from industrial designers to hardware know-it-all's. We concoct and construct interactive installations, work really hard, and drink a few beers together. The team will work with RFID tags and readers, every possible Arduino, a big variety of sensors, and plenty more. All participants are listed at the top of this page.

IkSentric design

This year's theme is 'IkSentric' design. The idea is to measure human behavior and human 'output'. Think along the lines of bio-mapping, or measuring weight and length. But we can go a bit deeper as well, and measure physical responses: heart rates, hand strength, punch force, maximum running speed, etc. We'll provide every possible type of sensor you might need to collect, manage and employ this data. In these projects, we can show something about who we are, and how we respond to each other. A digital representation of the, sometimes self-centered, 'us'.

Sensor Fest

Following the Dev Camp is a 3-day program called Sensor Fest. On November 23, 24 and 25 the Dev Camp participants will present the projects they realized during the camp. Every night starts at 8 pm at the Mediamatic Bank. More info: mediamatic.net/sensorfest

Exhibition: Arcade

December 18th we are opening a new exhibition called 'Arcade'. It will be a playground full of arcade games and new interactive installations. More info about the event online soon.
