Open Cooking Platform

In the Freezing Favela Open Cooking Platform will work together with the other food projects and now continue as Favelous. Together they create a cozy space where you can dine, drink and meet.
Cooking and eating is about more than stilling your hunger. This is the Freezing Favela’s collective cooking- and eating platform.

Open Cooking Platform -

Everybody who likes cooking, who feels hungry, who likes constructing.

We understand cooking and eating as a kind of cultural action that can possibly cause social impact and interaction. Therefore, the Open Cooking Platform intends to engage the local community with the Freezing Favela through activities related to food. The function of the kitchen unit will be based on the cyclical reconnection of food related processes from the production of raw materials, preservation, cooking and waste reuse.

We will implement traditional techniques and explore new methods while try to find relationships with other projects of the Freezing Favela in order to efficiently use energy, water, waste and the local resources. The structure of the small kitchen unit will be realised by re-used materials that will be collected from the neighbourhood. Next to kitchen unit, a dining space will be curated.

A series of events will take place where different recipes will be tested and documented in a recipe book which will “map” the tastes and flavours of the local community.
