This Gunya is a classical model, worn by the shepherds in the Carpathians. It is weaved on a two traps loom using a specific technique – Kozovannya. When it rains the water drips off the long dreads and the shepherd stays dry, warm and protected. Later on Hutsuls started to wear such Gunyas for important events in their lives, believing that Gunya serves as an amulet for its owner.
