Over the past three years Pet van de Luijtgaarden has collected millions of objects, questioning why we hold on to so much stuff. His collections have been exhibited in the Kunsthal (Rotterdam) and more recently in a massive exhibition, sized 13.000 m2, in the Jaarbeurs.
Pet has now brought his vast collections to Amsterdam to try and live off them. He is swapping them for foods such as jam, bread, or a wicked wintry soup. Anything fresh or easy to freeze is welcome.
The Playmobil swap took place on December 9, from 14.00 to 17.00 at Mediamatic Fabriek. You could trade free entrance for a chore like an hour of barkeeping or half an hour of vacuum cleaning. If you wanted to pay with money it was €5,- for a membership including free entrance for a month. Kids half price.
Food for the artist; Playmobil for you was part of Ruilen, an exhibition and series of events from October 20 to January 6. Open Wednesday through Sunday, from 13.00 to 18.00.
