What will you do?

In this observational drawing workshop, you will have the opportunity to closely examine the details of the Japanese knotweed. Throughout the workshop, you will practice your observational skills and explore different techniques for capturing the plant's unique characteristics on paper. With guidance from Annemarie Verschoor, you will learn how to draw the intricate details of the Japanese knotweed, including its distinctive leaves, stems, and flowers. By the end of the workshop, you will have developed your observational skills and created a beautiful, detailed drawing of this captivating plant.

Annemarie Verschoor

Annemarie Verschoor is is an artist trained as a biologist. The forms of nature - to put it gracefully - have always occupied her. How do those shapes come about? What are they for? How strange is it that our eyes are so pleased with those shapes? In short, enough to keep looking at them endlessly and drawing them. By depicting them something more happens. They are simplified or crammed into a frame. That often makes them even more beautiful.
