Alice Héron

Alice Herón is both artist and chef. She currently works at schuurmanoomkensgrasotti, a restaurant in Amsterdam. In her work she combines food and art with a focus on the way nature is used and consumed. Inspired by growing elements, like plants and fungi, she explores the interaction between design and taste.

Margherita Soldati

Margherita, resident artist at Mediamatic, explores the relationship between objects and substances in our bodies and senses. She focuses specifically on how this relationship impacts human behaviour. In a society very much focused on the visual, she wants to get people to "see" with their other senses. Her research therefore concentrates on people rather than things, resulting in intimate, personal and interactive work.

To find out more about Margherita's work, click here, or join our Open Tour on Fridays at 16.00 to see her pieces on site.

Krisztina Czika

Krisztina Czika researches different cosmetic materials and their social, environmental and political role in society. She tries to find new applications for existing materials. in her work she has explored the recycling of cosmetic wax, and the qualities of human hair.

Rens Pörtzgen

Rens Pörtzgen is the consulting chef for The Beauty Dinner. He is a chef at restaurant Café de Groen in Arnhem. His dishes are made with much care and attention for both taste and aesthetics. In order to maintain the quality of his dishes, he makes sure the ingredients he uses are as local as possible.

Practicalities

All Neo Futurist Dinners are vegan. If you have questions or want to inform us about allergies, send an e-mail to neofuturistdinner@mediamatic.nl. This dinner is not recommended for people with a nut allergy.

Special thanks to artist Zsofia Kollar, the designer of the mirrors used throughout the entire dinner experience. Zsofia presents materials in different and unexpected perspectives. She quests to understand the relationship between objects and their contexts. She researches the blurry line between fiction and the realms of our reality. The mirror located in the waiting room questions our view on beauty by distorting the reflection of the viewer.

With extra special thanks to Yanqi Huang and Sofia Donaque.

Putting Edible patches on faces - Course 6 - Detoxing Our skin protects us, but how much do we care for it? As a society, we rely on chemical creams that promise us miraculous results and seem to forget that the skin is an organ, and just like our bellies deserves something yummy and kind. For this 7-course dinner, artists Margherita Soldati, Krisztina Czika, and Chef Alice Herón created edible face masks served with lovely plant-based dishes. Inspired by the natural exfoliants and skin-renewing properties of the many foods around us, this dinner… Filippo Iannone
