Het Parfum

Play the future of Amsterdam during Uitmarkt 2018

25 Aug 2018
26 Aug 2018

After 360 years, the Navy Terrain opens up. We’ll get more space in the centre of Amsterdam. What can we do with this? There are many options, such as: Sports and Relaxation, Fancy Condos, Navy, Social Enterprises with Refugees or a Party Zone. Five perfumers developed unique fragrances inspired by these five options.

Consider the future and play our interactive fragrance game. Does your favourite scent match your favourite future? Form teams with fellow citizens during the Uitmarkt and collect all elements of your preference.

How do you play?

Take a card to play. Every card represents an element from one of the five fragrances. Trade with fellow citizens to get an element of your favourite scent / future. Wear this card visibly and try to form a team. Find like minded citizens to collect all elements of the scent you want to have.

Het Parfum

Mediamatic, in collaboration with The Institute for Art and Olfaction, Play the City and five perfumers, develop a sensuous game around city planning. Five tailor-made fragrances give expression to various prospective visions of the city. Het Parfum is a game that stimulates people to think together about the use of the Navy Terrain. People are brought in contact by the use of scent and encouraged to discuss future possibilities.

The Perfumers

Five perfumes for five future destinations. The fragrances are made, by perfumer Spyros Drosopoulos, known for his perfume line Baruti, scent artist Maki Ueda, IFF perfumer and winner of the Art and Olfaction Awards Ricardo Moya, Niklaus Mettler of In'n'Out Fragrances, and last but not least, Alessandro Gualtieri, the nose of perfume house Nasomatto.

Institute for Art and Olfaction

The IAO was founded by Saskia Wilson-Brown in 2012 to promote public, artistic and experimental involvement around fragrance.
